Treadmill

-Madhuri Lalwani, I Year B.A. English

today
i enrolled
for a
careful
rather careless shredding
of my skin,
fat, and happiness
for a distorted
tempting image
of a nothingness
too fancy
for people of the times.
this sweet sacrifice,
once the cruelty is gulped,
to remov
and slowly slice
healthiness
away from the soul
running
and running
till the conveyor belt
fails under my legs
my soul
weeps
as it is wilting.
pardon me,
i can not stand the
shredding
of
my
being.
